Mary Ann (Claro) Guercio passed peacefully on August 16, 2024

Mary Ann was born on June 17, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY to Richard and Victoria Claro and grew up in Brooklyn. She was the loving sister to the late Dorothy Bruno (Roy).

Mary Ann graduated from Lincoln High School in Brooklyn. She married her loving husband Frank on October 22, 1955. Together they raised 3 children, Richard (Michelle), Anna Maria Peet (Bill), Evelyn (Jaimie), in Brooklyn, Ridgefield Park, Hazlet and permanently back to Ridgefield Park in 1967.   In addition to her children, Mary Ann is survived by 7 Grandchildren, Jennifer Taylor (Gavin), Richard, Christopher, Jonathan Jauregui (Heather), Eric Tripp (Alexia), William Peet and Timothy Peet (Aldry), and 7 Great Grandchildren, Mackenzie (Ted), Tristan, Parker, Jianna, Jadon, Kyler, and Aliyah. She also leaves behind her loving nieces and nephew, Patricia, Joseph and Cristina.

Mary Ann was dedicated to her family, friends, community and church. She had an unmatched tenacious can-do attitude and forged ahead after the unexpected loss of Frank 30 years ago, traveling extensively throughout Europe and the Holy Land. She was everyone’s go to person for everything. A completely selfless person who would always “be right there”.   Mary Ann was a member of the Lions Club and Rotary Club. Always active at St. Francis, she was a longtime member of the St Francis Players costume crew, and helped to run the Parish Feast for many years with Frank and their friends. She was instrumental in running the International Dinner, was a Eucharistic Minister and was in the first group of recipients to receive the Father Francis Ignacious Award (2009).

Mary Ann loved the Fourth of July and was a Division Leader for many years for the Baby Parade. She was known to walk all the way down Main St on the 4th to see the Main Parade, talking to everyone along the way.   Mary Ann lived at the Marlboro house for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Board of Directors and then worked many years at the front desk. Mary Ann proposed and brought about the creation of the Exercise Room, the Library, initiated Sidewalk Sales and was the originator of the Seasonal Total Lobby Decoration.

Mary Ann had a green thumb, loves animals & enjoyed all of nature. She also had an absolute Love of cooking for her family and many friends.   She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
